Directions to the Penobscot River Base on Millinocket
Lake, Maine |
| From
Southern Maine: I-95 North to I-295 North into
Portland, I-295 North to I-95 North in Gardiner/Augusta,
I-95 North to Exit 244 (previously called Exit 56) towards
Medway. Follow Rt. 11-157 through East Millinocket to
Millinocket, then follow signs to Baxter State Park. (Do
not enter the Park). Approximately 8 miles out of town
you will see the "Big Moose Inn"- "North
Woods Trading Post" on your right. A REDUCE SPEED
sign precedes the Inn on the right. Once you pull into
the Big Moose Inn, you will see our base camp on the left.
The Big Moose Inn is our meeting location for all Penobscot
River Trips. The Big Moose Inn phone is (207) 723-8391.

IMPORTANT NOTE
REGARDING OUR PENOBSCOT RIVER TRIPS
NOTE: The meeting place
for Penobscot river trips is NOT in Bingham!
The distance from our Bingham Base to the river is too great. Instead, ALL Penobscot trips meet at the "Big Moose Inn" - just outside
of the town of Millinocket.
To reach the Big Moose Inn",
take exit #244 (formerly exit 56) off of Interstate
95 towards Medway. Follow Rt. 11-157 through East Millinocket
and Millinocket. Then follow the signs that direct you
towards Baxter State Park (but do not enter the Park). Approximately 8 miles out of town you will see
the "Big Moose Inn/North Woods Trading Post" on your
