An Aerial Tour of the White Water Rapids of the Kennebec River of Maine - Above.
The Kennebec River is one of Maine's rafting river "jewels". With its steep walls, deep gorge, beautiful scenery, and big gradient, everything comes together to make it THE most popular white water rafting river in all of Maine. The start of your Kennebec whitewater rafting adventure starts at the put-in; Harris Station. This large 80 megawatt dam hold back Indian Pond, and, ultimately is fed by the waters of Moosehead Lake. Fortunately, whitewater rafting releases occur on a scheduled daily basis. This ensures spectacular Maine rafting trips down this "gem" all season long!
This 6-minute video was shot from a plane flying low. First the plane flies over the put-in, then it follows the Kennebec River all the way down to its confluence with the Dead River at "The Forks". As it does, each major whitewater rapid is shown and discussed in reference to how each rapid is run, what the rapids are rated, as well as the nature of each rapid. Another aspect of our Kennebec River white water rafting video is that the put-in for younger children is also highlighted. This is at Carry Brook.
